Business Language Solutions

World Language Consultants was founded in 1967 when Rio Tinto, the world's foremost mining company, set up an internal Language training Unit with the assistance of Julio Pinna. Over 150 staff were trained by this pioneering unit, which provided one of the first language and cultural training programmes of its kind. The programme was soon extended to other companies, and in the mid-1970s Christies opened its exclusive centre which, under Julio's direction, delivered bespoke training to the executives, managers and experts at the auction house.

What we do

We have worked with a broad range of clients and developed language and cultural learning programmes which:

  • Enabled Christie’s specialists to travel the world, finding, buying and selling exiting piece of art.
  • Helped the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to promote UK interest abroad and worked with international bodies, ensuring the delivery of a specialist programme to senior officials.
  • Helped United Distillers, now Diageo, to develop its language and cultural capacity to support the business development initiative across borders.
  • Provided Barclays Bank with functional and practical language learning to help with the development of their interest in South America enabling the team to put immediately their knowledge into practice in the work environment.

Our Trainers

“Our language consultants combine an understanding of the difficulties that student face in learning a foreign language with an appreciation of the specific communication skills by those working at a senior level in the public sector.”

While we are able to offer instruction in a wide range of languages, we can also satisfy your needs with a language consultant whose background matches your precise professional requirements.

We are able to provide an invaluable background briefing to professionals intending to travel or work abroad. Our links with several of the countries leading academic institutions enable us to source the most relevant knowledge and expertise required in building a bespoke language course.

How we do it

Motivation – we aim to motivate and inspire people thereby allowing them to develop their full potential as learners. Because we are passionate about language and learning, our courses are highly stimulating and, above all, enjoyable.

Practical and interactive – we focus on providing functional learning and putting it into practice. Through this approach delegates feel confident to use their knowled ge within the work environment.
Self-analysis – helping individuals understand their current strengths and weaknesses is key to enabling effective learning. Through a range of practical activities, including tests, assisted discussion, role-plays; we help to increase delegates’ own self-awareness.

Effective learning contents – our expert training teams design and use the highest quality training content to meet the training objective.

Resources appropriate to the learning needs – prior and throughout the training we make sure that the delegate receive the appropriate course material.
